2016 Gérard Bertrand Gris Blanc Rosé, Languedoc-Roussillon, France – Regularly $14.99

Grenache is the king of grape varieties when it comes to making light, racy, fruity roses in contemporary style. The vines are ideally located in the Tautavel area, between the Mediterranean Sea and Pyrenees mountains, in the South of France area. The dry and sunny terroir enables Grenache, the emblematic grape variety of the Mediterranean, to express its best aromas. An original rosé with a very pale pink color plus grey and whitish tints. The bouquet reveals delightful red berry scents. A slight sparkle on the palate gives the wine all its freshness and brings its fruit out to the fullest. The elegant finish is pleasantly fresh and minerally. Grenache reveals all its suppleness and cherry aromas in this wine, with its fig and sometimes cocoa flavors, plus its rounded sensations on the palate. One of the great varieties of the South of France.

2015 Domaine Brunet Vin de Pays d’Oc Pinot Noir, Languedoc-Roussillon, France – Regularly $11.99

The Limoux area is one of the coolest places in the Languedoc region in southern France. The grapes are 100% destalked, and vinified with traditional grape stomping in order to make a soft and gentle fruit extraction of the tannins. After 20 days of maceration, the wine is then matured on its fine lies in French oak barrels during 4 months. The resulting wine has a bright red color with purple hints and an intense and complex bouquet of red fruit aromas with blueberry notes. The palate is full-fruit flavored with a long and supple lingering finish featuring classic cherry fruit with notes of dark chocolate.

2012 Viñedos y Bodegas Pablo Menguante Garnacha, Cariñena, Northern Spain – Regularly $15.99

Menguante means ‘waning moon’. In biodynamic viticulture, the casks are racked at night only when there is a waning moon, for fear the gravitational force from a fuller moon will bring the sediment up from the bottom of the cask. Deep ruby color. Bright raspberry and strawberry aromas carry into the palate with additional plum flavors. Firm and round. Soft finish.

Critical Acclaim 2012 – Wine Advocate 90 Points

The 2012 Menguante Garnacha Selección is sourced from old vineyards on chalk-rich soils with 10% inclination. The wine aged for eight months in new French oak barrels. The nose is elegant, showing aromas of red berries, touches of smoke and spices and Mediterranean aromatic herbs (thyme, rosemary) and a floral touch that adds elegance and some complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and harmonious with very pleasant, round tannins and moderate acidity. Very good value.
